Movie Review: Todo Sobre Mi Madre (All About My Mother)

February 8, 2008

The 1999 Oscar-winning Best Foreign Language Film may be made nearly 9 years ago, but it in no way pales in comparison with the countless films made today. Starring Penelope Cruz and Cecilia Roth, the film is set in Spain, with themes revolving around dealing with the loss of a loved one and the search for a man that is no longer who he was.
The plot is very original and fresh, bringing out the harsh realities of life and  the other side of the world that most people are reluctant or wouldn’t have a chance to explore. The riveting performances by the lead actresses and the tragic story will easily sweep you off your feet. A film well deserving its award.
